About the role

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Local Driver to join our team at Pilon Transport based in Altona North, VIC. As a full-time Local Driver, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the efficient and safe delivery of goods within the Melbourne area. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a dynamic and growing company in the road transport industry.

What you'll be doing

Safely operate a rigid truck to deliver goods to customers within the Melbourne area

Load and unload vehicles in a timely and efficient manner

Maintain accurate records of deliveries, including timesheets and delivery documentation

Perform regular vehicle inspections and report any issues or maintenance requirements

Ensure the vehicle and cargo are secured at all times

Provide excellent customer service and communicate effectively with clients

Adhere to all relevant road rules, safety regulations and company policies

What we're looking for

A valid heavy vehicle driver's licence (HR,HC or MC) with a clean driving record

Minimum 2 years' experience as a commercial vehicle driver, preferably in a local delivery role

Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills

Excellent communication and customer service skills

Physical fitness and the ability to secure heavy loads

Commitment to safety and a proactive approach to risk management

Knowledge of the local area and familiarity with the road network
