Job Description
About the Role
Salary: $71,635 - $76,000 per annum + Superannuation
Please note this is a Maximum Term Contract for 12 months
The Greyhounds as Pets Officer plays a key role in facilitating the successful transition of greyhounds into foster and permanent homes by managing the full adoption lifecycle (from initial enquiries to final placements) while maintaining strong relationships with carers, adopters, and stakeholders. This role also supports program development, event coordination, and database management, requiring a blend of animal care knowledge, administrative capability, and stakeholder engagement skills.
Your Mission:
- Match & Support: Recruit foster carers, arrange placements, oversee adoption journeys, and provide behaviour advice.
- Coordinate & Communicate: Keep adopters, foster carers, and trainers engaged while maintaining records and handling enquiries.
- Improve & Innovate: Identify opportunities to refine adoption processes and enhance GAP programs.
- Promote & Engage: Work with the marketing team to showcase adoptable greyhounds and support adoption events.
- Care & Assess: Arrange vet visits and ensure greyhounds are healthy and ready for their new homes.
- Attend & Assist: Take part in adoption days, liaise with trainers, and handle occasional after-hours calls.
Qualifications
About You
- Understanding of greyhounds (desirable)
- Experience in a Shelter or rehoming environment (desirable)
- Knowledge and understanding of greyhound racing industry beneficial to assist organisational requirements
- Demonstrated excellent communication skills both written and verbal
- Demonstrated ability to work in a team and independently
- Experience in social media, including but not limited to experience Adobe Creative Suite – Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator
- Attention to detail and accuracy in the execution of work
- Prepared to work outside normal business days/hours
- Well-developed computer literacy skills within the Microsoft Office/Windows Environment
- Veterinary nurse qualifications/experience desirable but not essential
- Current ‘C’ class driver’s licence
- Demonstrated ability to deliver outcomes on time and within budget
