Role Statement
The position of HPE/Sport Officer at St Peter Claver College requires a highly motivated person to join a team dedicated to nurturing engagement with the College community.
Working closely with the Curriculum Leader of Health and Physical Education, and the Program Leader of Sport, the HPE/Sport Officer is responsible for various administrative and non-administrative tasks within curricular and extra-curricular contexts.
The HPE/Sport Officer operates within the Catholic educational environment and culture and reports to the Business Manager. A significant relationship also exists with the Principal and the College Leadership Team.
About the opportunity
In this position you will be responsible for:
- Providing administrative support including photocopying, laminating, ordering and data entry
- Ensuring the HPE storage and gym sheds are clean, organised, maintained and ready-for-use at all times
- Stocktaking duties to assist with ordering and rotation of old equipment
- Organising and/or developing a preventative maintenance system to regularly service equipment including maintaining appropriate logbooks and maintenance records for all equipment
- Assisting with the organisation of inter house sport carnivals;
- Assisting departmental teachers in the support of students, particularly those with physical impairments and learning difficulties
- Assisting with the set-up and pack-up of sporting carnivals and events both onsite and offsite
- Assisting departmental staff with the set-up and pack-up of equipment for various teaching programs
- Providing practical support to HPE staff with students participating in offsite Sport events when required
- Providing WH&S support for the HPE and Sport departments
- Cleaning, sorting and management of sporting team uniforms, first aid kits and other applicable equipment
- Other duties as requested by the Business Manager/Principal.
About you
To be successful in this position you will bring relevant contemporary skills and experience including:
- Strong skills in planning, preparing, and delivering effective teaching programs
- Ability to monitor student progress and apply evidence-based interventions
- Expertise in supporting diverse learning needs to improve student outcomes
- Collaborative skills to work with specialists and coordinate intervention groups
- Proficient in documenting observations, managing intervention programs, and preparing classroom materials
- Certificate III in Education Support
- For this position you are not required to be Catholic.
Eligibility and Safeguarding requirements:
- Eligibility to work in Australia for the duration of the appointment
- Hold a Paid Employee Positive Notice Blue Card prior to commencement.
