• Full-Time, Permanent Position
• Classification: SCHADS Level 3 with a salary range of: $73,883-$79,218; per annum + Superannuation
• Salary packaging arrangements providing tax benefits available for living and entertainment expenses increasing your take home income where part of your wage is paid tax free each pay, savings thousands in tax each year
• Location: Liverpool, NSW

About your new role

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Lived Experience-led Peer Work is grounded in the principles of Social and Emotional Wellbeing (SEWB), which is a multidimensional holistic model that extends beyond conventional concepts of mental health and distress.

The Peer Worker - First Nations (PWFNs) draws upon their lived experience of distress, trauma and/or impacts to their social and emotional wellbeing when supporting all consumers. Additionally, when supporting First Nations consumers, PWFNs recognise the ongoing impacts of colonisation and cross-generational trauma to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and encompasses the cultural, spiritual, physical, emotional and mental wellbeing of the individual, family and/or community.

PWFNs work with all consumers accessing the program through one-on-one peer support, facilitating peer-led groups, and transdisciplinary teamwork.

What you will bring to the role

• Identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander
• Established knowledge of Aboriginal culture, kinship networks, and social and emotional wellbeing.
• Experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities or organisations.
• Personal lived experience of distress, trauma, and/or impacts to their social and emotional wellbeing, with a focus on healing/recovery and the ability to purposefully use lived experience learnings to connect with and support others.
• Strong emotional resilience including the ability to sit with discomfort, distress and people in crisis.
• Ability to work autonomously, adapt communication to diverse need and maintain confidentiality.
• Ability to self-reflect, take on feedback to grow practice skills and engage in personal and professional development.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills plus computer literacy.

• Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check (police check) - disclosable outcomes considered
• Current Working with Children Check - required before commencement of work
• Current Australian drivers licence and access to a car
• Australian working rights
