Your role at St John of God Subiaco Hospital

The Clinical nurse maintains and improves the standard of nursing/midwifery care, providing clinical expertise and local leadership to ensure that quality patient care is delivered, and the Core Mission and Values of SJOGHS are achieved and upheld.

Our Perioperative Surgical Theatre is equipped with state-of-the-art technology and a highly skilled team of medical professionals to ensure that our Scrub Scout nurses have everything they need to perform their duties efficiently. This allows them to work seamlessly with the surgical team to provide the best possible care for patients undergoing procedures in our facility. This position is a Clinical Leadership position for Theatre Scrub Scouts in the specialty of Orthopaedics.

The Position

  • Provides supervision and acts as a resource to other members of the care team including RNs/RMs/ENs/Students and PCAs/PSAs.
  • Complies with and demonstrates a positive commitment to relevant legislation including but not limited to Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia - Code of Conduct and the Poisons Act.
  • Plans, performs, facilitates and evaluates delivery of patient care that is in accordance with hospital policies and procedures.
  • Develops and implements quality improvement and risk management programs at SJOHHS. Evaluates outcomes of recommended actions and provides feedback.
  • Coordinates shifts as required; ensuring allocation of caregivers to patients is based on caregiver skill mix and patient acuity.

You will have a registration with Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia (AHPRA) as a Registered Nurse, extensive clinical experience in perioperative nursing, and relevant advanced clinical, decision making and problem solving skills. You will demonstrate effective leadership, mentoring and coaching, and are committed to quality improvement and best practice principles.

To succeed you will have an ability to coordinate and prioritise patient care and problem solve in response to a changing environment, knowledge of Equal Opportunity, Workplace Health and Safety, Infection Control and legislation that affects nursing practice and understanding of the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia Code of Conduct, Code of Ethics, Competency Standards and Scope of Practice regulations.

We can offer:

  • Salary: $103,883 - $110,954 per annum, plus 11.5% superannuation
  • A permanent full time position, working 76 hours a fortnight.
