Seeking a dedicated Intake and Assessment Worker to be the first point of contact for people navigating housing instability or homelessness in the Parramatta area.

This is a permanent full-time opportunity working 38 hours in the local government area of Parramatta

  • Monday to Friday from 8am to 4pm
  • SCHADS Level 3.1 $37.35 per hour with salary packaging benefits (pay less tax) up to $18,550 per year + 11.5% superannuation.

About the Role

As an Intake and Assessment Worker, you’ll be the first point of contact for Youth, Men and Women experiencing or at risk of homelessness. This role is central to our mission of providing timely, person-centred support and managing referrals, and conducting comprehensive assessments. You will also be providing administrative support to the programs to ensure the smooth delivery of services and clinical programs based in Parramatta.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct intake assessments for individuals at risk of homelessness and refer them to appropriate services.
  • Serve as the first point of contact for accommodation and case management support.
  • Collaborate with clients, families, and service systems to address immediate and long-term needs.
  • Build strong relationships with external service providers and partners such as DCJ.
  • Coordinate accommodation vacancies and ensure swift client placements to minimise vacancy periods.
  • Maintain accurate client records and ensure compliance with privacy and reporting requirements.
  • Complete monthly reporting as part of the Outcomes Measurement Framework.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development and contribute to team or case management meetings.

Your Qualifications & Experience

Qualifications:

  • Certificate IV in Community Services, Mental Health, Youth Work, or a relevant field.
  • First Aid Certificate
  • Driver’s License

Experience:

  • 2+ years of experience working with Homelessness, Youth, Women’s or working with vulnerable people.
  • Knowledge of best practices for Specialist Homelessness Services.
  • Clear knowledge and understanding of Trauma Informed Practices.
  • Experience in developing and maintaining partnerships to facilitate referral pathways.
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills, with a high level of attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient in MS Office and computer systems, enabling timely and accurate handling of client data.

Even Better:

  • Previous experience working in crisis and/or transitional accommodation programs.
  • Current Youth Mental Health First Aid,
