About the role
- Support transfusion medicine and haematology laboratory operations by ordering, receipting, rotating, and dispensing blood products in accordance with established protocols.
- Perform basic laboratory testing procedures under supervision and assist with the management of pathology samples to ensure timely and accurate processing.
- Take ownership of critical support tasks, including maintaining blood fridges across campus, managing consumables, and ensuring a clean, well-organised lab environment.
- Collaborate closely with scientific and technical staff, communicate effectively across teams, and seek guidance from senior colleagues to uphold best practice standards.
- Engage in ongoing education by attending scientific sessions and unit meetings and remain flexible to work rostered shifts to support the efficient functioning of the service.
About you
- You hold a relevant tertiary qualification in pathology or medical laboratory science and bring hands-on experience in transfusion medicine and/or haematology within a fast-paced diagnostic setting.
- You're confident with laboratory information systems and Microsoft Office, combining tech skills with a strong focus on accuracy and adaptability.
- You approach problems with a methodical mindset and keen attention to detail, contributing to quality improvements and reliable lab operations.
- You're a clear communicator with strong customer service skills, able to work effectively with clinical and technical staff in a collaborative environment.
- You understand and adhere to laboratory safety standards, policies, and legislative requirements, ensuring compliance and best practice in all aspects of your work.
