The Role

As an Emergency Medicine Registrar, you will be responsible for the immediate and ongoing care of patients. This includes comprehensive history taking, physical examination, continuous assessment of patient progress, and implementation of investigations and treatments in accordance with unit protocols or under the direction of the supervising specialist. Your clinical judgement and initiative will be essential in managing a diverse and high-acuity caseload.

The Facility

This is one of the busiest hospitals in Australia, treating over 89,000 patients annually, with approximately 20% of those being paediatric cases. The Emergency Department offers a broad and challenging case mix and serves as the only trauma centre within its catchment area, contributing to a high trauma workload.
The department is staffed by a team of over 40 consultants, including a paediatrician and three PEMs (Paediatric Emergency Medicine specialists), along with approximately 30 registrars and a complement of junior medical staff. Consultants are present in the department from 8:00 am to midnight daily and are on-call overnight. Both full-time and part-time applicants will be considered.

Applicants must meet one of the following eligibility criteria:

Hold General Registration with AHPRA

Be eligible for the Competent Authority Pathway (UK, Ireland, USA, Canada, or New Zealand)

Have an ACEM interview date confirmed

Have been assessed by RACP and found to be substantially or partially comparable
