The Opportunities
Manager Residential Care - Level 6, $115,824 - $127,647 pa + Super - PSCSAA 2024 - As a Level 6 Manager Residential Care, you will work in the areas of child protection and children in care and is responsible for:
- contributing to the planning and management of residential care facilities and promoting sound innovative and responsible casework and community work practice,
- effective day to day management and operation of the Unit,
- managing team resources, assigning tasks and ensuring equitable distribution of workloads within the team,
- quality assuring and quality improvement functions within a team and providing reports,
- supervising and supporting team members and liaising with other Team Leaders, District Case Managers and Senior Advisors to ensure sound practice standards and providing learning and development opportunities for the team,
- convening and chairing planning forums.
Senior Manager Residential Care - Specified Calling Level 3, $124,241 - $136,981 pa + Super - PSCSAA 2024 - As a Specified Calling Level 3 Senior Manager Residential Care, you will work in the areas of child protection and children in care and is responsible for:
- providing services to children in the CEOs care, in accordance with Division 5 (Placement and Residential Care) of the Children and Community Services Act 2004 and other relevant legislation to ensure the safety and protection of children,
- exercising powers in relation to Division 8 (Powers of Restraint, Search and Seizure) to ensure the safety of a child and other persons,
- the overall management of residential care facilities and effective day to day management and operation of the Residential Care Home,
- managing Residential Care Officers, an Education Officer and other professional support staff in accordance with the Department’s Therapeutic Care framework,
- providing consultation and advice to Managers Residential Care,
- ensuring the provision of a safe and caring environment for vulnerable children in residence.

Suitable applicants will be placed in a pool from which appointments will be made for this or similar future vacancies (fixed term or permanent) that arise within the next 12 months across the Department of Communities.
Which Position Do I Apply For?
Under our Child Protection Workforce Model, priority will be given to qualified applicants in the first instance to maintain a qualified workforce. Should a qualified applicant not be identified then this selection process will be used to fill the vacancy.
If you have a Bachelors degree in Social Work, Psychology or relevant human services area, please apply for the Specified Calling Level 3 Senior Manager Residential Care position. Refer to our website for information about the qualification requirements.
