Our client, a leading consultancy are looking to recruit a Technical Data Specialist to join their team on a contract basis.

Key responsibilities include:

Define, analyse, and document end-to-end data flows between systems, including upstream/downstream interfaces, middleware, and source applications

Conduct data lineage analysis, data profiling, and querying (including SQL), to support data migration, integration, and validation activities

Analyse complex datasets across disparate systems to uncover dependencies, data quality issues, and transformation rules

Drive the delivery of data-heavy projects across Agile and Waterfall environments by producing epics, user stories, acceptance criteria, and functional data specifications

Facilitate workshops to define data requirements, data models, and integration points, ensuring alignment across business, architecture, and engineering teams

Translate business data requirements into structured documentation consumable by developers, testers, architects, and data governance teams

Provide hands-on support during data design, development, testing, and implementation phases, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of delivered solutions

Contribute to the review and validation of technical artefacts such as source-to-target mappings, data dictionaries, test scripts, and solution designs

Engage with business and technical stakeholders to understand data needs across current and target-state systems, identifying gaps and opportunities for optimisation

Lead the documentation of data-centric requirements including data mappings, technical service specifications, and data transformation logic

Requirements:

Sydney-based and able to work onsite 3 days/week

Minimum 5 years' experience across Data Analysis, and Technical Analysis

Proven experience delivering - data migration, integration, profiling, querying, lineage mapping

Financial services experience (minimum 2-3 years)

Comfortable working across hybrid delivery models and navigating ambiguity

Practical SQL experience (not advanced, but hands-on capability essential)

Exceptional written documentation, stakeholder engagement, and problem-solving skills
