This vacancy is for Permanent Full Time, Permanent Part Time, Fixed Term Full Time, Fixed Term Part Time, and Casual appointments with the possibility of extension and/or permanency.
Position Profile: Perth Children’s Hospital is seeking to appoint experienced Perioperative Registered Nurses to transition to paediatric nursing. Paediatric experience is not essential, we value your skills, knowledge and recent experience in Perioperative settings.
You will be supported in your transition to paediatric nursing with a dedicated program of education, training and preceptorship and collegiate support. An opportunity to undertake post graduate qualifications to support your professional pathway in paediatric nursing is also available. If you have previous paediatric experience, we also encourage you to apply.
Requirements:
- Current registration with APHRA with recent perioperative experience.
- A willingness to learn and embrace the unique challenges and rewards of paediatric nursing.
- A team player who is collaborative, compassionate and strives for excellence.
- Previous cardiac surgery experience is highly desirable.
About the Department/Service/Directorate: The Perioperative Department at Perth Children's Hospital is a specialised unit dedicated to providing comprehensive care for paediatric patients undergoing surgical procedures. Eligibility to Apply: To be eligible for appointment, applicants must have a valid working visa (for fixed term appointments) or be an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or have a visa to live and work indefinitely in Australia (for permanent appointments).
International Applicants with a minimum of three (3) years’ experience and currently working in Australia are encouraged to apply, however workplace Visa sponsorships are currently not available. The role is equivalent to Registered Nurse (UK Equivalent Band 5).

- Please provide an example to demonstrate your use of effective communication skills while collaborating within a multidisciplinary team. How did your communication contribute to the team’s success, and an excellent patient outcome? (Essential Criteria 3 & 4)
- How have you applied your understanding of the Continuous Quality Improvement process in your previous nursing roles? Please provide an example of a specific quality improvement initiative you were involved in, including the steps you took to identify areas for improvement, implement changes, and monitor the outcomes? (Essential Criteria 6)
Please include a current resume which summarises your experience and contains phone and email contact details of two professional referees, with at least one being a recent supervisor/line manager.
