Bank First
Posted 2 days ago
Bank First was born by making a BOLD move. Now, we're on a mission to make more BOLD moves as we transform and grow.
We are proud to provide our community of educators and health-care workers with a bank that puts them first, because they put others first. We're committed to building a unique bank—one that’s different, sustainable, and centred around our Members.
Join us in breaking the mould and shaping the future of banking. We’re looking for innovative and creative minds that are ready to make a real impact at a place where you can truly be yourself.
So, what’s the role?
We’re seeking an experienced Payroll Transformation Lead to drive the implementation and integration of a new HRIS and Payroll system. This is a critical contract role working at the intersection of Finance and People & Culture to modernise and uplift our payroll function.
As the Payroll Transformation Lead, you’ll be the subject matter expert across our payroll systems transformation. You’ll lead the end-to-end delivery of a new payroll model—improving compliance, governance and operational efficiency. You’ll also help shape the strategic roadmap and build internal capability to reduce long-term vendor reliance.
In a typical day, you’ll get to:
- Lead the assessment of current payroll processes and systems, define the future state, and develop a practical transformation roadmap.
- Execute the full HRIS/payroll implementation or integration lifecycle—from requirements gathering and vendor management to go-live and post-launch support.
- Collaborate closely with Finance, Payroll and People & Culture teams to align systems with legislative obligations and business goals.
- Manage the payroll system vendor relationship, track actions, and ensure timely delivery of requirements.
- Troubleshoot system issues and provide expert support and configuration.
- Build internal capability to own and manage payroll system changes moving forward.
About you
- Degree in Accounting, Commerce, HR or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Proven track record leading payroll transformation projects, including HRIS/payroll implementations.
- Deep experience with iChris / Chris21 (system configuration, data maintenance, reporting), and experience with other HRIS/Payroll systems such as SAP is highly regarded.
- Understanding of NES, modern awards, payroll tax, FBT, and super legislation.
- Strong documentation and executive communication skills.
- Experience developing business cases, target operating models, and strategic roadmaps.
- Strong change management and stakeholder engagement skills.
Why join us?
- For-purpose, a bank committed to helping its Members and their community.
- Impactful work that will genuinely make a difference to the lives of our Members!
- Work with values-driven leaders, who actively develop talent and support you to grow your career. In an environment that you are empowered to Be Bold. Be Different. Be Sustainable. Be YOU!
- Work-life balance and flexibility, so you can work in a way that best suits you and supports your commitments outside of work. Family friendly parental leave, and paid superannuation up to 52 weeks.
- Hybrid working from our state-of-the-art offices to connect and collaborate, as well as focused time at home.
- Competitive remuneration with an additional one week ‘Be You’ leave, ‘Be Well’ wellbeing benefit, #BFF Club home loan offer and free on-site parking!
