The Administrative Review Tribunal (ART) is currently seeking applications for a Director Executive Support, to lead the Executive Support Team.

Remuneration: The annual salary range for the position is EL2 - $140,890 – $160, 176 p.a., plus a generous employer superannuation contribution of 15.4%.

This ongoing hybrid position can be located in Adelaide, Brisbane, Canberra, Hobart, Melbourne, Sydney, Perth or Darwin.

About the opportunity:

The Director Executive Support is responsible for leading and developing a small but busy team responsible for providing a range of executive support to Jurisdictional Area Leaders and List Leaders of the Tribunal.

It is an exciting opportunity to work closely with senior leaders in the new Administrative Review Tribunal.

You will be the main point of contact for Jurisdictional Area Leaders, ensuring the provision of a consistent and high-quality level of executive support and facilitating engagement with other areas of the Tribunal.

About you:

To be successful you will have:

  • Advanced management experience with the ability to cultivate a collaborative and can-do culture.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and implement change and the ability to identify opportunities for improvement and promote a positive approach to dealing with uncertainty.
  • The ability to work with a high level of autonomy, think strategically, exercise sound judgement and ensure alignment of section activities.
  • A proven capacity to deliver results, successfully lead or deliver complex projects, develop creative solutions and manage risks appropriately.
  • Extensive and detailed knowledge, or the ability to quickly acquire such knowledge, of the Tribunals legislative and policy context, particularly in relation to the delivery of administrative support services to diverse users.

You will be responsible for the strategic direction of the Executive Support section and its planning processes, including effective resourcing within budget.

An essential element of this busy role is the ability to confidently manage competing priorities with judgement and tact.

Essential:

  • Security Clearance- Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance

Desirable:

  • Relevant qualifications, training or experience related to one or more functions or powers of the Tribunal.

The Administrative Appeals Tribunal (AAT) conducts independent merits review of administrative decisions made under Commonwealth laws. We review decisions made by Australian Government ministers, departments and agencies and, in limited circumstances, decisions made by state government and non-government bodies. We also review decisions made under Norfolk Island laws.

The AAT was established by the Administrative Appeals Tribunal Act 1975 and commenced operations on 1 July 1976.

On 1 July 2015 the Migration Review Tribunal, Refugee Review Tribunal and Social Security Appeals Tribunal were merged with the AAT.
