Senior Evaluation Advisor
- $133,944.00 per annum + 11.5% superannuation
- Full Time, fixed term until 31/12/2025
- Wadawurrung Country/Geelong based or Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung /Melbourne CBD role (hybrid model, work from home, 3 days a week in office)
Purpose
The purpose of the Senior Evaluation Advisor is to provide specialist and authoritative advice to ensure high-quality evaluations to support strategic health and safety prevention programs in meeting their objectives. The position exists to ensure best practice development, design and planning of projects and programs and to lead the development of tools and resources to ensure best practice and innovative approaches. The role provides senior thought leadership - working alongside the entire Program branch to build capability and understanding of best practice evaluation and monitoring methodologies and techniques.
The Senior Evaluation advisor has an important role to play in ensuring WorkSafe continues its work towards actively preventing workplace injuries and illness from occurring.
Key accountabilities
- Proactively build and maintain collaborative client and stakeholder working relationships
- Provide authoritative, strategic, and timely written and verbal advice to ensure the most rigorous evaluation methods possible are applied across HSBU
- Lead the development of monitoring and evaluation practices that apply contemporary and best practice approaches, drive continuous improvement, early identification of issues and effective review of interventions
- Coach and train staff in evaluation methodologies and techniques while encouraging an environment of teamwork and continuous improvement
- Lead the development of outcomes monitoring frameworks and evaluation frameworks, where necessary, ensuring they reflect WorkSafe's objectives and are facilitated by evidence-based information
- Develop tools and approaches to test the theory of change, monitor fidelity of implementation, generate learning through implementation, and improve efficiency and effectiveness of programs
- Working with academic partners or research providers as required, to develop, implement and interpret a variety of data inputs (including survey research, focus groups, and in-depth interviews)

About you
You hold extensive experience in monitoring and evaluation, with the ability to devise and manage frameworks independently, preferably in the government or health sectors also you hold a demonstrated track record of successfully monitoring program results for Government.
- Advanced written communication skills including the ability to explain complex or technical issues clearly and in a way that can be easily understood and accepted by a range of audiences
- High level analytical, conceptual skills and the ability to provide creative and practical solutions to problems
- Knowledge and understanding of quality assurance issues, including performance targets and measurable indicators
- Proven ability to consult on complex and sensitive issues with a diverse range of stakeholders within critical timeframes
- The successful candidate must be able to work as an effective member of a highly motivated team, who will be expected to be able to meet consistent timelines and to effectively manage varying and complex workloads
- Ability to apply your knowledge of research, analysis and project management techniques, and desire to undertake continuous professional development
- Knowledge of OHS and/or compensation law or other relevant legislation and understanding of development of legislation and related Parliamentary processes is preferable
Qualifications
- Tertiary qualification in public health, public policy or statistics or related field that includes research or evaluation methodology and statistical analysis
