Suburban Rail Loop (SRL) is an integrated transport infrastructure and precincts planning project that will deliver a 90km rail line linking every major train service from the Frankston Line to the Werribee Line via Melbourne Airport, as well as investment in the suburbs, better connecting Victorians to jobs, retail, education, health services and each other. Suburban Rail Loop Authority (SRLA) is the statutory body established to plan all elements of the project, procure builders, develop structure planning for SRL Precincts and oversee construction and the other changes that will help transform Melbourne and Victoria.

As our Senior Financial Planning Analyst, you'll be more than just a number-cruncher – you’ll be a trusted advisor for our largest Rail and Infrastructure division, working side-by-side with teams to shape budgets, forecasts and big ideas. In this role, you’ll balance your financial expertise with creative problem-solving, helping projects stay on track, budgets stay in check, and stakeholders stay impressed.

Reporting to the Manager, Financial Planning and Analysis, your key responsibilities will include:
Providing expert financial advice and insights to stakeholders, supporting strategic decision-making, financial planning and operational efficiency to drive business performance
Leading the budgeting and forecasting processes, ensuring alignment with business objectives, financial sustainability and effective resource allocation
Conducting in-depth financial analysis, including variance analysis, trend identification and cost-benefit assessments, to support data-driven decision-making and business improvements
Collaborating with senior leaders, operational teams and external partners to provide financial guidance, enhance transparency and influence financial outcomes
Identifying and assessing financial risks, recommending mitigation strategies to ensure financial integrity, compliance with regulatory requirements and strong internal controls
Supporting the development of budgeting and forecasting policies and procedures to ensure compliance to Government financial framework while still maintaining efficiency in the processes
Driving continuous improvement initiatives in financial processes, reporting and systems while identifying cost drivers and supporting efficiency measures to optimise financial performance
This is a permanent, full-time role. You will work in a hybrid work model with access to a range of flexible working arrangements.

About you
Experience in financial management, budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis and managing financial issues within a complex business environment
Deep understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting and risk management
Knowledge of financial policies, frameworks and regulatory requirements
Ability to interpret financial data, conduct complex analysis and provide strategic insights to support business decision-making and financial sustainability
Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with senior leaders, project teams and external stakeholders to influence financial outcomes and drive collaboration
Ability to identify inefficiencies, assess financial risks and develop innovative solutions to enhance financial planning, reporting and operational efficiency
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey financial insights to non-financial stakeholders and prepare high-quality reports and presentations
A recognised tertiary qualification in Finance, Accounting, Commerce or a cognate discipline
