We genuinely value and support our support staff. Arise is dedicated to providing the greatest support possible for persons with disabilities through work, training, excellent remuneration, and continuous support.

Work-life balance flexibility: Work the hours that suit your schedule while taking support shifts.

Fair Compensation: Arise adheres to the Disability Services Industrial Award, which ensures that pay rates are set annually and are guaranteed. Our pay includes overtime and penalty rates for increased pay while working nights, weekends, or holidays.

To provide you with an idea of the day-to-day tasks involved in this job, below are some examples of activities we may undertake with our clients:

Visiting them at their homes, enjoying a cup of tea, and conversing with them about their weekly progress.

Assisting them with their daily tasks, such as buying groceries or attending medical appointments.

Taking a stroll in the park and taking pleasure in the natural surroundings.

Helping with personal administration tasks like paying bills, looking for housing, and handling Centrelink.

Accompanying them to busy social settings to help them feel more confident and comfortable.

Encouraging physical health by supporting them in attending gyms or doing outdoor exercises.

Supporting them to live independently by assisting with home cleaning or gardening.

Arise operates as a remote organization with no physical office. You will have a significant degree of autonomy, but your supervisor will be available to offer guidance and support you with any concerns or challenges you may encounter while on the job.

About you

If you're interested in this position, you should possess highly developed interpersonal skills and be comfortable meeting and engaging with new people. Previous experience in mental health and dual disability or a community-related role is desirable, but if you don't have this experience, please describe how your professional or personal experience enables you to work effectively with individuals who are experiencing serious mental health challenges.

The ideal candidate is looking for a consistent and stable routine and is available to work at least 20 hours per week, with approximately 90% of this work happening on weekdays during standard business hours. If you're a full-time student who expects to work mainly on weekends or evenings, this position may not be suitable for you.

You must be able to manage your own schedule and work independently and be willing to commit to the role for at least 12 months to ensure a consistent and dependable service for your clients. You should also be comfortable using basic office technology, including Microsoft Teams, email, and your own phone and computer for work purposes (such as logging shifts and contacting clients).

You'll need to have access to a car and a current driver's license, as you'll be responsible for getting to your appointments and transporting clients in your vehicle. However, you'll be reimbursed for mileage expenses while with participant.

The specific skills required for this job will depend on the needs of the person who is seeking support. To increase your chances of being selected as a support worker, it's essential to provide detailed information about yourself on your online profile, including your experiences, hobbies, and interests. This will give people who are seeking support (and their families) a better understanding of your skills and suitability for the role.

If you have worked in mental health, residential or community support, social work, youth work, or nursing, support work, could be an excellent career opportunity for you to consider.

Application Process

To apply, please upload your updated resume along with a cover letter detailing your experience and how it aligns with our mission and values and the job responsibilities.
