A high-profile Federal Government Department is delivering a large-scale digital transformation that will modernise the way essential public services are delivered to Australians. As part of this mission-critical initiative, an experienced Midrange Developer is required to support the day-to-day development and enhancement of key internal systems used during high-demand operational periods.
This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to a nationally significant program and work on a suite of enterprise-level applications in a fast-paced, agile environment.
You will be part of is a large-scale transformation program to modernise business capabilities and replace core ICT systems with a citizen-centric, agile technology platform.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and enhance software solutions using Ingres ABF and SQL, in alignment with business needs and agency software development standards.
• Identify and resolve software issues, ensure accurate results, and enhance performance through efficient coding practices.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to address technical issues and improve operational processes.
• Deliver high-quality technical and design documentation and contribute to governance and project reporting.
• Support internal/external stakeholder engagement across a geographically dispersed network.
• Support after-hours operations during electoral events as required.

Essential Requirements

• Strong experience in Ingres ABF and SQL development within enterprise environments.
• Demonstrated success in managing competing priorities, delivering results on time and within scope.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to work across geographically diverse teams.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proven ability to drive change and improvement initiatives.
• A high level of integrity and ability to work within legislative and policy parameters.

Desirable:

• Formal qualifications in IT or a related discipline.
• Ability to quickly acquire knowledge of legislative or regulatory frameworks relevant to the department’s services.
• Understanding of Federal Government ICT processes or frameworks.

To Be Considered, You Must:

• Hold Australian Citizenship and an active Baseline security clearance
• Be available to commence within 2–4 weeks
• Be willing to travel to Canberra up to 2 times per quarter (if remote)
• Submit a one-page pitch addressing the essential criteria
