Our Southern Downs Feedlot, 30km from Warwick, is seeking an experienced operator to become the 2IC for the Feedmill Department and support the Commodity Manager in all facets of the feeding operation.

The role encompasses:

· Mixing feed – we mix approx. 90-120T per day currently

· Allocating feed to the pens accurately and in a timely manner

· Grain and commodity receivals, ensuring delivery paperwork is received and recorded correctly

· Maintaining the cleanliness and tidiness of the commodity area

· General maintenance of machines and mill

This role may also involve activities in other areas of the feedlot after the mill duties are completed, including:

· General maintenance work – operating machines to spread sawdust, clean pens, spread manure on paddocks

· Assist livestock team with various tasks

· General feedlot and maintenance activities

Skills and attributes

· We’re looking for someone who has done this before or you might be experienced with machinery operation and enjoy the challenge of honing your machinery skills; operating efficiently to ensure cattle are fed the same every day without fail – consistency is key in the feedlot game.

· You can think on your feet, have good mathematical skills, and are a problem solver – this role relies on the person to be thinking ahead, evaluating stock on hand, and problem solve issues as they arise.

· You like to work by yourself and enjoy autonomy; we’ll be relying on you to be a self-starter and monitor the mill area so it operates smoothly.

· However, you also won’t mind working alongside our small team to complete tasks across the feedlot, ensuring all jobs are completed by end of day.

· We’re looking for someone with commitment to their job – showing up each day, being punctual and ready to tackle the tasks.

· You like operating various machines - tractors, loaders, skid steers, augers – and you will have a basic mechanical understanding of how they work.

· Commitment to performing tasks safely – we want everyone to go home at the end of the day.

Weekend work is required as part of the role. A 10/4 Roster can also be offered.
