About the role

The Court Counselling and Support Services is a directorate within Court and Tribunal Services Division with the responsibility to provide specialised support services to child witnesses and victims of crime.
Court Counselling and Support Services Directorate is seeking qualified professionals to work in Child Witness Service and Victim Support Service.
There are two specialist positions and the attached job description forms detail the job-related requirements for each.

A brief description of each role is below:

Child Witness Worker

The Child Witness Worker position supports children and young people who may need to give evidence in court as a witness or victim of crime. Workers provide practical information and emotional preparation throughout the court process and undertake assessments to provide information to the court about the young person’s needs. Child Witness Workers liaise closely with the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions, Police, Courts and other stakeholders in the delivery of services.

Victim Support Worker

The Victim Support Worker position entails working within the criminal justice system and requires strong assessment and case management skills and an ability to multitask. Workers are required to assess and respond to calls, queries and referrals to the Service, deliver court-based services to assist victims of crime in their interaction with the criminal justice system, and provide trauma counselling and psychological assistance. An ability to liaise with the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions, Police, Courts and other key stakeholders in the delivery of services is required.
