About the Role
The Research Officer will contribute to an innovative project aimed at improving access to full blood examination (FBE) testing at the point-of-care in remote primary health care settings. Under the guidance of the Chief Investigator and in collaboration with the Project Coordinator and research team, the role involves supporting point-of-care (POC) FBE testing, collecting and analysing research data, and helping to produce meaningful outcomes such as peer-reviewed publications, community reports, and workshops. This position offers the opportunity to be part of impactful research that directly supports health equity in underserved communities. Some out of hours work (including weekends), as well as interstate travel, may be required.
International Centre for Point-of-Care Testing
The International Centre for Point-of-Care Testing works collaboratively with national and international partners to improve health care, access to pathology testing, and improve health outcomes. The Centre translates national research and teaching expertise in the field of community based POC Testing to national and international audiences, and as a result, builds the capacity of rural and remote communities globally (particularly Indigenous communities) and develops solutions to improve both health service delivery and patient outcomes.
College of Medicine and Public Health

About You
To be successful in this role you will demonstrate:
- Relevant tertiary qualification, or equivalent combination of experience and/or education and/or training.
- Well-developed understanding of point-of-care testing and its application in the primary health care sector.
- Well-developed understanding of the principles of quality management programs for pathology testing.
- Well-developed ability to work with broad supervision and to manage, analyse and report on scientific data and keep clear and accurate records.
- Demonstrated well-developed interpersonal skills and experience working effectively in a team environment.
