About the role

We are seeking a self-motivated, compassionate Registered Psychologist for a fixed-term, part-time opportunity (30.4 hours per week) to join our Allied Health team, working across the Melbourne metropolitan area. As an experienced practitioner, you will deliver evidence based, time limited psychological therapies, provide expert consultation, and offer specialist services including positive behaviour support and capacity building to people experiencing severe and complex mental health challenges and dual disabilities. In this role you will work closely with internal and external stakeholders, including clinical teams, service providers, and private health insurance funds, to deliver services to people in the community.

About the Service

The Allied Health service delivers a range of specialist supports and clinical services to help clients with complex mental health needs and dual disabilities achieve meaningful recovery outcomes. Through a multidisciplinary team, services include brief interventions, psychological therapies, mental health counselling, vocational assistance, and access to service provider networks. Support is provided via assertive outreach, telehealth, and one-to-one sessions, all within a person-centered, integrated stepped-care framework. These services empower clients, families, and carers to have choice and control over their recovery goals and services.

Key responsibilities

  • Deliver flexible therapeutic support services including assessments, brief clinical intervention, treatment planning and evaluation, and education in line with professional, ethical, and National Standards.
  • Provide expert clinical advice and consultation to internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Support people with referral management, assertive follow up and holistic recovery-focused services to meet service delivery requirements.
  • Demonstrate clinical leadership providing people with care coordination and advocacy.
  • Collaborate with primary care providers, clinical teams, and key stakeholders to deliver coordinated clinical care and treatment for referred clients.

What you’ll bring

  • Tertiary degree qualification in Psychology with current AHPRA registration.
  • Accreditation in Positive Behaviour Support, or a willingness to work towards credentialing, is highly desirable.
  • Proven experience delivering therapeutic support, including working with individuals with complex mental health needs and dual disabilities, and engaging collaboratively with families and carers.
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to plan, implement, and prioritise to meet service delivery requirements.
  • Understanding of the NDIS, Community Services sector, Private Health and ability to build strong relationships with service providers, clinical teams and key stakeholders.
