We are seeking a motivated and experienced professional with a strong background in biosecurity or agricultural policy development and its implementation into legislation, particularly in support of government initiatives.

The successful candidate will be skilled in developing compelling narratives and business cases that clearly define problems and objectives. They will be able to integrate community needs and the broader operating environment, including relevant policies and regulatory frameworks, into their work.

They will also have a proven ability to craft clear, persuasive messages through briefings and papers tailored for a range of audiences, including Ministers and senior executives. Anticipating the needs of decision-makers, they will confidently communicate complex or sensitive topics to drive understanding and influence outcomes.

We're looking for someone with a strong work ethic who takes initiative and demonstrates accountability. A positive, ‘can-do' attitude is essential, along with a commitment to fostering a culture of excellence, responsiveness, and flexibility. The ideal candidate will be a strong team player with experience leading or contributing to complex policy projects.

Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications

  • A veterinary medicine, veterinary science, agricultural science or public/veterinary health policy tertiary degree is mandatory. Further studies in policy, animal disease, or areas relevant to the accountabilities would be well regarded.

This is an ongoing position. The work location for this position is Attwood with hybrid work arrangements available.
