Senior Urban Planner

3 Year, Fixed Term (Hybrid and On-site Options)

Level 6 - $118,743.47 (incl $20,000 Port Hedland Allowance)

* Increasing to $122,693.21 as of 1st July 2025

The Role

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Urban Planner to join our team. Reporting to the Coordinator Urban Planning, you will assist in the delivery of statutory town planning and crown land functions and continuously review the local planning framework to ensure it is kept up to date with contemporary best practice.

You will be required to have experience in:

  • land use planning with a high level of expertise of scheme amendments,
  • structure plans,
  • local planning policy; and
  • development assessment.

You will also demonstrate knowledge of current planning and development issues in Western Australia from social, environmental, and economic perspectives.

This role will allow you to either be based in Port Hedland or engage in a hybrid working arrangement where you will have the opportunity to work from home (Perth based preference), visiting Port Hedland as required to meet the needs of the business unit.

Work Related Requirements

The preferred applicant will be required to undergo a pre-employment medical, including drug and alcohol assessment to be considered for the role, as well as possess:

  • Degree qualification in Urban and Regional Planning (or equivalent discipline)
  • Minimum 2 years' experience
  • National Police Clearance
  • Current 'C' class driver's licence
  • Rights to work in Australia
