Job Description

The Opportunity

Salary Offer: $135,000 - $150,000 per annum + Superannuation

We're seeking a driven and highly technically skilled Cyber Security Engineering Team Lead to strengthen the security foundations of our cloud and on-premesis environments. Reporting to the Head of Cyber Security (CISO), this hands-on leadership role will guide the design and delivery of security platforms, tools, and practices that support a resilient digital ecosystem. If you’re passionate about security engineering, architecture, and automation, this is your opportunity to drive meaningful change.

What You'll Do

  • Lead the implementation and maintenance of security controls and platforms across RWWA’s cloud and physical infrastructure.
  • Drive secure-by-design principles, support secure coding and DevSecOps, and participate in architecture and solution reviews.
  • Deploy, integrate, and maintain security systems to reduce risk and improve response capabilities.
  • Design automation workflows and integrations that streamline security operations and enhance efficiency.
  • Contribute to security architecture governance, risk assessments, and the development of scalable patterns and reference designs.
  • Provide mentoring and technical guidance while collaborating with Cyber Security Operations and GRC teams to ensure end-to-end coverage.

Who We’re Looking For

We’re seeking a hands-on security leader with deep technical expertise and a collaborative mindset. You’ll bring:

  • A hands-on, solutions-focused mindset with a passion for secure design and technical problem-solving.
  • A collaborative working style, with the ability to build strong relationships across engineering, operations, and business teams.
  • A calm and methodical approach to managing risk in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
  • A growth mindset—always seeking ways to improve systems, processes, and personal capability.
  • Confidence working in a small team where your contributions directly shape outcomes.

Qualifications

About You

  • Strong expertise in security architecture and engineering across cloud (AWS, Azure) and physical environments.
  • Extensive hands-on experience with security platforms including Microsoft Sentinel, Defender, Tenable, ThreatLocker, Palo Alto GlobalProtect, and cloud-native security tools.
  • Proven capability in configuring, integrating, and maintaining security solutions to enable scalable and resilient security controls across cloud and physical environments.
  • Familiarity with secure coding and testing practices, DevSecOps principles, and security in the software development lifecycle.
  • In-depth understanding of frameworks including NIST CSF 2.0, ASD’s ISM, and the WA Government Cyber Security Policy.
  • Ability to assess, select, and manage third-party security vendors, tools, and managed service providers.
  • Hold a recognised tertiary qualification in information technology or cyber security, relevant professional certifications, or can demonstrate equivalent extensive industry experience.
