About the opportunity:
Position: Emergency Department Ambassador
Vacancy: Permanent full-time, 2 x positions available
Location: Townsville University Hospital
About the role:
The Ambassador is a non-traditional security role that provides person-centred support and engagement within the Townsville University Hospital Emergency Department.
The role is focused on the proactive engagement of consumers (patients/carers/visitors) to improve their experience and the maintenance of a safe clinical environment.
Ambassadors, as part of a multi-disciplinary team, proactively prevent and/or reduce the occurrence of aggressive/disruptive behaviour through the use of mature and well-developed communication skillsets and people-focused, respectful, empathetic and supportive interactions.

- Salary range: $2585.80 to $2710.40 p.f. (OO3)
- Annual leave with 17.5% loading
- 12.75% employer contribution to superannuation

Requirements:
- Whilst not mandatory, experience in healthcare security, or customer service will be well regarded.
- The successful candidate will be required to participate in a continuous shift (24 hour) roster, 7 days a week. There will be a requirement to work weekends and public holidays.
- The successful candidate must disclose in writing any pre-existing injury or medical condition in accordance with the Workers Compensation and Rehabilitation Act It is a requirement for the successful applicant to undertake a functional capacity assessment prior to commencement.
- The successful candidate must possess a high level of self-control, emotional stability and be prepared to encounter potentially traumatic incidents.
- This is a Vaccine Preventable Disease (VPD) risk role. Hepatitis A/B, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis and Tuberculosis.
- Probation period may apply.
- Pre-employment checks will be conducted including criminal history clearance.
