Industrial Sewing Machine Operator

Due to high growth we are looking for a skilled sewing machine operator to join our small family owned and operated pet product manufacturing business located in the Hunter Valley. We pride ourselves on being leaders in our industry and are looking for a highly driven member to join our team.

We have an amazing opportunity at our Rutherford based Factory for a skilled sewing machine operator looking for a casual OR Part-Time position working for Australia's leading pet bedding manufacturer. Not only do we manufacture bedding, collars, leads, treats and accessories but we import the best dog toys from America and export our products all over the world. With our domestic and export market growing exponentially we are on the hunt for someone who wants more than a job, someone who wants to love where they work, love what they do and why they do it, someone not afraid of manual labour and enjoys being part of a dynamic business. Our product range is diverse, and we believe in changing pet’s lives for the better through quality, Australian and USA made products! For the right candidate this role will become a leadership position.

We are looking for someone to start immediately. Experience in Industrial Sewing Machine Operation is advantageous but not essential, if you have a high level of experience in sewing we can help you transition to an industrial machine. If you have the right attitude and work ethic you will learn LOADS of new skills and there is plenty of career progression to be had.

The perfect candidate will:

Have proven experience in sewing machine operation

Be able to follow procedures for manufacturing

Be creative and looking for ways to create new products

Have good time management and communication skills

Be willing to assist in other areas of the company as needed

Be clean and tidy, in appearance and in your workspace

Have the ability to work autonomously or as part of a team and possess strong problem-solving skills

Pride themselves on producing high quality work regardless of what they are working on

Love Animals

Possess a strong work ethic, Professional attitude and be willing to learn new skills and be an active team member

What you’ll be doing:

Safely operating industrial machinery including but not limited to single needle sewing machine, twin needle sewing machine, overlocker, programmable sewing machine and embroidery machine

Accurately sewing and manufacturing products with high attention to detail

Maintain the sewing machines to ensure correct and safe operation

Troubleshoot any issues with machinery

Identify and make aware any faults or issues during manufacturing

Quality Control

Working closely with all other staff

Maintaining a very high quality of workmanship

Ensuring your workspace is clean and safe

Assist in maintaining a clean factory and warehouse

Monday to Friday working hours. Public Holidays off and Christmas time shut down.

A very attractive salary of $24-$30 per hour + Entitlements depending if you are casual or Part-time

Remuneration will be based upon the Manufacturing and Associated Industries and Occupations Award 2020 – graded as a C13 – though we believe the wage should be higher and as such are paying above the Award. This position has the possibility of becoming permanent full time if the successful candidate wants that in the future.
