About the role:
The Media and Events Adviser is responsible for providing media relations advice, driving the creation of high-quality media content, and telling compelling stories about the impact of the Department of Health's work.
The role will develop Ministerial event opportunities, both media and stakeholder - identifying potential locations and stories, arranging logistics of the visit and drafting supporting materials.
The incumbent will work closely with branch colleagues, ministerial offices, department executives and relevant business areas within the department to ensure communications material is clear, engaging, timely, and aligned to the department's strategic narrative and plan.

Key Role Responsibilities
- Provide media relations advice, direction and outcomes to a portfolio of internal and external stakeholders.
- Research and prepare high quality media materials including media releases, responses and Q&As.
- Identify positive story opportunities across traditional media and digital media platforms and work with portfolio experts to develop and pitch them to senior staff.
- Monitor media and social media to report on relevant coverage and identify emerging issues and risks.
- Provide communications advice and work collaboratively across the department to ensure the delivery of effective communications that are of a high written and visual standard and comply with departmental and whole-of-Victorian Government guidelines.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships and facilitate collaboration across the department and with key external stakeholders.
Qualifications / Specialist Expertise
(Advantageous) - A tertiary qualification in fields related to communications, media or associated disciplines would be advantageous.
