About the Role

The primary purpose of the TRP coordinator role is to coordinate technical departures (design exceptions and departures from standards) submissions in a manner that adds value by ensuring departures are reviewed by the TRP panel members and subject matter experts and approved by the TRP Chair in the agreed timeframes. The coordinator will work closely with Major Projects (Project Integration), Transport Services, TRP panel members and subject matter experts to help ensure TRP meets its objective of providing a high-quality governance process, high quality communication, and timely approval of departures.

Although you will not need to be an expert in planning, design or construction, it would be helpful to have a broad understanding of the various technical disciplines. You also need to understand the role that the Department of Transport and Planning plays as a road manager and maintainer and the importance of protecting the Department's interests both now and into the future.

The TRP Coordinator will also support the Director Network Engineering Change (NEC) and key managers in NEC, coordinating activities across the NEC branch, such as our Culture programs, branch meetings and other general activities.

Position Outcomes / Accountabilities

Project Delivery - Coordinating technical departures (design exceptions and departures from standards) submissions in a manner that adds value and helps ensure TRP meets its objective of providing a high-quality governance process, high quality communication, and timely approval of departures.

Stakeholder Management - Being the key interface with stakeholders to coordinate and administer innovative responses that meet the changing needs of the TRP process within agreed timelines, ensuring TRP members and relevant stakeholders comply with TRP processes or requested actions and understand the Department of Transport and Planning's role.

Trusted Advisor - Providing specialist advice both verbally and written to stakeholders, TRP members, the TRP Chair and the Chief Engineer in relation to the TRP process and TRP requests submitted. Assisting the TRP Chair to build capability in the TRP process and knowledge sharing within the Project Integration teams, panel members, subject matter experts and other key stakeholders.

Managing key strategic projects for TRP - Lead the development, implementation and maintenance of work instructions and tools for the TRP process. Identify areas of risk to the Department of Transport arising from TRP submissions and update the TRP Chair on any issues for escalation. Identifying and anticipating barriers to success, develop solution options for consideration, and implement improvement processes and preventive measures to achieve successful outcomes.

Building relationships and reporting - Building and maintain effective working relationships with the Director NEC, TRP Chair, TRP panel members, subject matter experts and the Department of Transport Major Projects (Project Integration) teams. Providing secretariat support to the TRP Chair for TRP related meetings and matters. Regular reporting and tracking of departures and providing status reports to the TRP chair and Chief Engineer.

The DTP is seeking a proactive professional with strong project delivery skills to define and oversee tasks, monitor progress, and ensure successful outcomes. The ideal candidate will excel in stakeholder management, innovation, and collaboration, while demonstrating exceptional interpersonal skills to tailor communication and build partnerships that drive continuous improvement and user-focused solutions.
