We're looking for a dynamic Occupational Therapist, to join our team, at Indie Education.
In this role, you'll have the opportunity to use your problem-solving skills and adaptability to create positive change, aligned with our Indie model.
As a key member of our team, you'll be instrumental in providing strength-based advice and encouraging inclusivity for all students.
Who we are:
- Indie Education re-engages young adults aged 15–18, who have experienced educational or social barriers, across their formative years of schooling
- We are a registered, alternative non-government (Years 9–12) special assistance school, with small class sizes and differentiated learning approaches
- Our engaging teaching and non-teaching staff create an inclusive environment through mutual respect, offering choice and independence, where every student feels valued and respected
What You Will Do:
- This role is built around professional consultation, capacity-building and environmental design and does not include providing direct therapy, with students and families
- Complete classroom observations and collaborative consultations to identify student strengths, preferences and functional presentations, providing guidance to educators on embedding proactive, strength-based adjustments into student Individual Plans and classroom practice/delivery
- Conduct environmental consultations across physical, social and sensory domains, advising on layout, routines and environmental factors, and adapting recommendations to each school site's context, emerging trends and whole-school priorities
- Deliver professional learning and resources, translating clinical knowledge into practical strategies for sensory preferences, emotional regulation, executive functioning and engagement
- Produce clear, accessible consultation reports aligned with Indie’s strength-based approach, providing functional insights, environmental considerations and strategic recommendations to inform teacher and leadership planning
- Apply a strength-based-approach, to promote holistic engagement, development and a growth mindset with young adults, in a newly established role within SA
- Contribute to whole-site implementation of inclusive practices and participate in company-wide initiatives, focused on embedding strength-based approaches across all of Indie delivery programs
Please note: interstate travel to Indie locations, across the first 12-18 months for induction and position tasking will be required.

You Must Have:
- Tertiary qualifications in Occupational Therapy
- Current professional registration with AHPRA and appropriate Professional Indemnity Insurance
- Current drivers licence and own vehicle
- Minimum 5 years experience as an Occupational Therapist
For this position with our Company, applicants must be willing and able to provide:
- Annual National Police Checks (issued in the 3-months prior to the letter of offer)
- Working with Children Check

Remuneration:
- Level 18 (AWCC Enterprise Agreement 2022-2025) $128,013
