The Team:

Royal Hobart Hospital (RHH) is Tasmania’s largest hospital, and is the tertiary referral centre for Tasmania. Located within the RHH is The Integrated Operations Centre (IOC), which serves as the central hub for patient flow coordination and staffing support for Tasmanian Health Service (THS) Hospitals South.

The Staffing and Support Unit is a small team within the IOC, specialising in the recruitment and management of the:

  • Permanent and Casual Nursing/Midwifery Pool
  • Care Assistant and Assistant in Nursing Pool
  • Casual Hospital Aide Pool

The team works closely with the Roster Support Unit and collaboratively with all Hospital South Services to ensure safe staffing across the organisation.

The Role:

This is a rare opportunity for an emerging nurse leader to learn and contribute to service-wide operations, strategy and planning. The Associate Nurse Unit Manager (ANUM) role within the Staffing & Support Unit provides integral support to the Nurse Unit Managers (NUM). The successful applicant will have the opportunity to develop their management skills and gain valuable experience in the leadership of large workforces. Our ANUMs enjoy the close support of two NUMs and an accessible and collaborative senior leadership team.

You will need

  1. Demonstrated clinical experience in a broad range of acute care settings, with the capacity to provide clinical leadership, exercise professional judgement and initiative and work with minimal supervision.
  2. Demonstrated ability to understand the business of the IOC in delivering the best outcomes within available resources, including a demonstrated understanding of safe rostering and staffing principles, NHPPD and skill mix.
  3. Demonstrated ability to contribute to the evaluation, innovation and development of services provided by the unit/service and the review of clinical practice policy, procedures and protocols.

Details of appointment:

Permanent part time, day worker position, working 56 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.

*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.

Salary: $106,570 to $112,440 per annum (Pro rata). Our Employer 11.5% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023.

In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:

  • Post Graduate Allowance of up to 7.5 % based on qualification type

Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse
