Key Responsibilities:

✨ Child and Young Person Support: Build positive and trusting relationships with children and young people. Provide emotional support, ensuring their safety and well-being. Promote the development of life skills, independence, and confidence. Respond to behavioural challenges using trauma-informed and strength-based approaches.

✨ Daily Living and Care: Assist with daily routines, including meals, hygiene, and school attendance. Plan and engage in appropriate recreational and social activities. Maintain a structured and predictable environment, ensuring consistency in care.

✨ Behavior and Crisis Management Support children during times of distress using de-escalation strategies. Implement individualised behaviour support plans as directed by management and DCJ. Maintain calm and professionalism during crises, ensuring safety for all.

✨ Case Management and Record-Keeping: Document daily activities, incidents, and progress notes accurately and promptly. Contribute to care plans, reviews, and team meetings. Communicate effectively with the multidisciplinary team, including caseworkers and therapists.

✨ Household Management: Ensure the home is clean, organised, and well-maintained. Follow workplace health and safety protocols to ensure a safe environment. Assist with meal preparation, shopping, and household tasks as needed.

✨ Compliance and Professional Standards: Adhere to all policies, procedures, and legislative requirements, including child protection laws. Participate in ongoing training and professional development. Maintain confidentiality and uphold the rights and dignity of children in care.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Certifications: Ensure compliance with essential certifications, including Working With Children Check (WWCC) and Police Check, among others.
