About the role

Want to work in disaster resilience focused emergency management team? At Yarra Ranges Council the Hazard Planning Team Leader leads a small team to ensure Municipal Hazard Plans are current and comply with legislation. This role guarantees that the Council has a well-trained emergency management workforce ready to respond before, during, and after emergencies.

Reporting to the Executive Officer of Emergency Management, this position is crucial in establishing cross-organizational readiness. It involves working with Council leadership and emergency management agencies to enhance emergency management arrangements. Making emergency management plans come to life!

Key responsibilities include overseeing delivery of the annual fire readiness program, which encompasses the Fire Hazard Inspection Program and maintaining the Council’s fire assets.

This is a fantastic opportunity suited to someone looking to advance their career in progressive emergency management capacity and capability building, that will make a difference to how emergency management is delivered in Yarra Ranges municipality.

Full-time permanent opportunity (38 hours per week).

Band 7 role with a salary range between $107,314 and $115,776 per annum.

Support work-life balance with a monthly rostered day off and hybrid working arrangements.

20 weeks paid primary caregiver leave (6 weeks for secondary caregivers) plus other generous leave options such as family planning and menstrual and menopause leave.

Experience and skills we’re looking for

Qualifications in Emergency Management or related discipline.

Experience with emergency management planning.

A strong track record stakeholder collaboration.

Passion for working with others.

Demonstrated ability to manage projects.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate with a diverse range of stakeholders/customers/clients/members of the community.

Experience in local government role in Emergency Management sector is highly regarded but not essential.
