About your new role
We’re looking for a technically strong, detail-oriented Senior Civil Engineer to join our Engineering Design and Standards team. In this role, you’ll play a key part in reviewing and certifying designs for the city’s civil infrastructure projects including roads, intersections, footpaths, car parks, and urban improvements. Your work will directly support the safe and efficient delivery of public infrastructure across the Gold Coast. If you’re a self-starter with strong technical judgement, a collaborative mindset, and a commitment to quality outcomes, this is your opportunity to make a real impact in one of Australia’s fastest-growing cities.
As a Senior Civil Certifying Engineer, you’ll provide expert review and certification for civil engineering designs, ensuring that documentation is compliant, constructible, and aligned with City standards and relevant legislation.
Key responsibilities include:
• Certifying civil design packages for roads, intersections, car parks, and pedestrian infrastructure
• Providing technical advice to engineer, designers, project managers, and stakeholders
• Ensuring designs are fit-for-purpose, practical, and support safe construction outcomes
• Supporting quality assurance and driving continuous improvement in design delivery
We're looking for people who have:
• 8+ years of experience in civil engineering design and/or certification.
• Registration as a Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ).
• A bachelor’s degree in civil engineering.
• Proven experience certifying designs for roads, intersections, car parks, and pedestrian infrastructure.
• Strong working knowledge of local government design standards, including the City of Gold Coast Land Development Guidelines, as well as key Austroads, TMR, and Australian Standards applicable to civil infrastructure design and assessment.
• Excellent attention to detail and technical judgement, particularly regarding compliance, constructability, and safety.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills.
• A team-focused mindset, with a willingness to share knowledge and support colleagues.
• A current C-Class Driver’s Licence.
