About The Global Health & Tropical Medicine Group:
The Global Health & Tropical Medicine Group investigates the transmission and control of tropical infectious diseases and diseases of poverty, including some of the most prevalent and important infections that cause much suffering and economic loss worldwide. We aim to develop new public health interventions against these diseases that will lead to their sustainable control and eventual elimination.
Role Purpose / Responsibilities:
Applications are invited for an experienced Project Manager to oversee local logistics and management of a new National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) project on strongyloidiasis, the Strongyloidiasis Elimination Research Program.
Key to this role will be frequent travel to, and engaging with Indigenous communities and particularly remote communities in the Northern Territory, to build, strengthen and expand partnerships and collaborations with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander audiences, stakeholders, and internal and external audiences.
Ideally this position is required to be based in Nhulunbuy, Northern Territory, with further frequent travel to remote North East Arnhem Land communities and Brisbane; or otherwise based in Herston, Queensland, or Cairns, Queensland, with required frequent travel of extended duration to Nhulunbuy and further frequent travel to remote North East Arnhem Land communities.

Key duties include:
- liaising with stakeholders and community members;
- working in partnership with employees of Miwatj Health Aboriginal Corporation;
- assisting the Project Coordinator in all aspects (e.g. development of study protocols and SOPs, ethics applications, training and oversight of fieldwork, analyses of data, drafting of reports and manuscripts).
- Respectfully navigate protocols and seek guidance from Indigenous Elders and knowledge keepers as needed.
- Manage the operations of an NHMRC funded project on strongyloidiasis elimination in Northern Australia. This includes (but is not limited to)
- Manage multiple components of the Strongyloidiasis Elimination Research Program through the full project life-cycle, ensuring that methodologies, standards and processes are adhered to, and that project outcomes are delivered within agreed timeframes, scope and budget.
- Foster and maintain productive collaborations, positive working relationships and buy-in with internal and external stakeholders.
About you:
- Tertiary qualifications in public health or a related field; or extensive relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training
- Demonstrated knowledge and skills in project management techniques, tools and methodologies, covering all phases of the project life cycle
- Evidence of authentic collaboration with Indigenous communities
- Substantial interpersonal, influencing, and negotiation skills with demonstrated ability to build effective relationships and influence stakeholders in diverse cultural contexts
- Excellent verbal, written, presentation and communication skills, including ability to present to technical and non-technical audiences

Remuneration: Salary range is $106,593 to $118,347 per annum plus super and generous salary packaging. This is a full-time, fixed term appointment for 2 years with possibility of renewal based on funding.
