The Aged Care and Disability Support Worker will work across MDAS’s Aged Care and Disability Services primarily with a focus of engaging members of our Aboriginal Communities who are eligible frail aged or disabled and require support in their own home. Support Workers are responsible for the frontline delivery of quality services provided to individuals/participants. Services are provided in accordance with the care plan, Aged Care Quality Standards, service agreement and organisational policies and procedures, to build capacity, allow individuals to remain at home and/or to live more dependently. Support Workers undertake a variety of tasks including but not limited to; low and high personal care, respite, domestic assistance, assistance with social support groups, home maintenance which includes, general gardening such as, lawn mowing, edging, weeding, and yard clearance.

Key Selection Criteria:
• Able to work efficiently and effectively and take direction from senior staff within a small team environment to meet organizational needs.
• Ability to exercise discretion at all times and, in particular, when dealing with confidential issues.
• Strong communication and customer service skills including the ability to interface and coordinate work efficiently and effectively and with external bodies and staff from all levels across the organisation.
• Strong organisational and coordinating skills. Administrative skills, with effectiveness in developing tasks and managing resources to achieve targets within set timeframes as required.
• Solve problems based on knowledge and experience, scanning for useful information, looking for underlying cause and suggesting alternative action.
• Take action to provide services that are inclusive of Aboriginal people and engage in learning about other cultures to better establish relationships and improve services.
Qualification/s:
Minimum Certificate III in Home and Community Care or Aged Care (Aged, Disability, Individual Support); Current First Aid and CPR Qualifications.
Other Screening Requirements:
A current Driver’s License that allows you to drive in Australia.
A current Employee Working with Children Check card.
A current National Police Check.
COVID-19 Vaccination Certificate & Booster information or a valid medical exemption.
