Job location

Our Corporate Office is located at Thomas Embling Hospital just 15 minutes north of the city. Due to our announced expansion across all Directorates, we have a need for experienced like-minded professionals to join our team to support our growing services. Our Directorates includes Thomas Embling Hospital, Prison Operations and our Community Directorate with highly skilled disciplines including Nursing, Lived Experience, Occupational Therapy, Psychiatry, Psychologists and Social Work. We have an outstanding L&D and discipline Educator co-hort that continually upskill our already skilled and supportive team.

About the Role:

This position operates with autonomy in carrying out the key day to day accounting functions and responsibilities of the role and provides support to the CFO. The role is responsible for accurate and timely reporting of the General Ledger and Fixed Asset Register, ensuring the completion of timely and accurate internal and external reporting (including tax reporting), as well as the completion/review of reconciliations.

The role is responsible for leading the quality service delivery for Financial Accounting. With a focus on process improvement within the applicable teams, the role is responsible for the continued development of staff skills to ensure they contribute to Forensicare’s strategic goals and the vision and behaviours of the Finance and Business Services team.

Duties:

  • Manage month-end process against agreed timetable and deadlines, ensuring an accurate General Ledger and Asset Register.
  • Conduct month-end review and analysis of results, including completion of variance analysis and commentary for management reports.
  • Manage and monitor the monthly cash flow.
  • Review of Monthly Reconciliations of Balance Sheet Accounts.
  • Manage and ensure the delivery of DH Reports, including monthly results, forecast and budget within required timelines.
  • Manage the preparation of annual statutory accounts and other external reports such as MHE, ABS surveys and WorkCover etc.
  • Manage external audit processes, contributes to internal audit and ensures compliance.
  • Oversee the preparation of BAS and FBT and ensure taxation deliverables comply with relevant legislation and deadlines are met.
  • Lead the financial accounting team, ensuring deliverables are met and that the team operates efficiently.

About You:

  • Demonstrated skills and experience as a manager with the capacity to work autonomously and as a member of a team to deliver outcomes and solve problems.
  • Ability to effectively lead a team to meet deliverables and strive for continual process improvement.
  • Proficiency and extensive experience in using accounting system and software packages (including Microsoft Excel & Word); Experience with Magiq and Microsoft D365 will be highly regarded.
  • Experience in completion of month end close process, and internal and external reporting.
  • Experience in providing coordinated accounting and financial support in public sector.
  • Experience in audit processes and compliance reporting in the public sector.

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in finance and accounting and CPA or CA member.
