Role Summary

We’re looking for a Technical Design Lead to join our team and drive the technical quality and compliance of our office fitout projects. This is a leadership role suited to someone who thrives in detail, has a strong understanding of construction compliance, and takes pride in ensuring every drawing and document is build-ready.

You’ll lead a small design team, work closely with our delivery and furniture teams as well as playing a pivotal role in lifting the quality of our design documentation to ensure pricing accuracy, buildability, and safety.

Please note: This is not a client-facing role. Your focus will be on internal technical leadership, documentation quality, and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a small team of interior designers and documenters to produce high-quality construction documentation.
• Ensure all designs are compliant with relevant building codes, Australian Standards, and client-specific requirements.
• Oversee the technical delivery of office fitout projects from design development through to construction documentation.
• Champion "safety in design" practices across all projects.
• Conduct detailed reviews of drawing sets to ensure clarity and completeness.
• Work with subcontractors and suppliers to ensure our documentation supports accurate pricing and efficient construction.
• Identify and implement continuous improvements to our documentation standards and workflows.
• Collaborate closely with the Pre-Construction Manager to align on project milestones, resources, and deliverables.

Skills & Experience

• Proven experience in technical design and documentation within the commercial interiors or office fitout sector.
• Deep understanding of BCA/NCC, Australian Standards, and commercial building compliance.
• Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to documentation.
• Experience managing or mentoring design/documentation teams.
• Skilled in ArchiCAD; familiarity with Enscape, Programma, Smartsheets, and Adobe Suite is preferable but not essential.
• Confident communicator, able to work collaboratively with internal teams, consultants, and subcontractors.
• Passion for lifting the standard of design documentation and ensuring it’s fit for pricing and building.
