Details: VisitCanberra leads the ACT and capital region tourism industry to create and implement a range of marketing and partnership programs that aim to grow the value of tourism to the ACT economy.

The primary objective of Senior Director, Marketing is to lead, plan and manage the effective delivery and evaluation of the international and domestic marketing strategies, programs and activities for VisitCanberra.

This role requires aligning marketing activities with other areas of Economic Development and key external stakeholders and support the development and implementation of strategic and marketing plans to promote the CBR Brand across key programs. Effective leadership and management of the Marketing Unit's planning and operations, including human and financial resources, are essential.

Furthermore, the Senior Director will establish and manage relationships with industry and strategic partners to maximize marketing opportunities. The role also involves promoting collaboration across the organization and contributing to industry-wide destination marketing initiatives. Representing VisitCanberra in various local, regional, and national forums is another key responsibility.

Eligibility/Other Requirements:

  • Tertiary qualifications in marketing, communications or business is highly desirable.
  • A strong understanding of the Tourism Industry.
  • Current Australian driver’s licence.
  • Ability to work flexible hours and travel as required.

Notes: This is a temporary position available immediately until 11 March 2026 with the possibility of extension up to less than 12 months and/or permanency. Selection may be based on application and referee reports only. A Merit Pool will be established from this selection process and will be used to fill vacancies over the next 12 months. Please note, this position will be moving to a new workplace designed for activity-based working (ABW). Under ABW arrangements, officers will not have a designated workstation/desk. Opportunities for flexible working options could include hybrid working, being a combination of working from home, designated office based and FlexiSpace working locations across the ACT, part-time hours, job-sharing, flexible start, and finish times.
