Purpose of Position
The Business Analyst will work across projects to perform detailed business requirements analysis, drive the documentation processes, investigate, and develop options and solutions while championing the business needs. This role will focus on the planning and documentation over technical skills.

Analysis & Collaboration

  • Analysing, reviewing and evaluating business processes, identifying business and technical requirements, and uncovering areas for improvement for projects.
  • Conducting meetings and presentations to share ideas and findings.
  • Documenting and communicating the results of analysis.
  • Working collaboratively with Project Managers, Business Analysts, SMEs, software engineering, quality assurance, external vendors, and other business areas located across Australia and overseas.
  • Actively participating in, or facilitating where necessary.
  • Feedback from team and business stakeholders

Requirements Elicitation & Lifecycle Management

  • Facilitating requirements elicitation workshops and customer journey walkthroughs while recognising underlying needs of the customer and impacted business areas.
  • Assessing gaps and conflicts in requirements or solutions and working with stakeholders to a suitable resolution and providing solution designs.
  • Taking full ownership of requirement traceability and documentation e.g., in the form of features, epics, user stories and acceptance criteria, including: business requirements, functional specifications, non-functional specifications, and integration specifications.


Essential Requirements & Behaviours

  • Commercial insurance experience is mandatory.
  • Solid experience as a as a business analyst.
  • Relevant business/IT tertiary qualifications or certifications (would be beneficial).
  • Strong understanding of Technology, Technical Projects and the SDLC
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with an ability to influence and negotiate effectively.
  • Ability to translate and communicate technical matters into simple non-jargon language for cross-functional team members in a clear and patient manner.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong stakeholder relationships.
  • Ability to collaborate with different personalities effectively.
  • Able to work independently and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Analytical & problem-solving skills
  • Excellent requirements analysis and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work across multiple projects with a deeper technical understanding of the critical issues.
  • Ability to think outside the box while identifying problems and developing creative solutions.
