About the opportunity

AUSTRAC, Australia’s financial intelligence agency and anti-money laundering and terrorism financing regulator, is undergoing transformation to strengthen its role in fighting financial crime. As we evolve and embrace these changes, we're looking for individuals who are open and curious about new perspectives, new thinking and new ways of working.

We're recruiting for two Finance Business Partners to help shape the financial and strategic direction of our agency. This recruitment process will be used to fill two positions: an ongoing vacancy, and a non-ongoing vacancy, contracted for a 12-month period.

As a Finance Business Partner, you'll step into a high-impact role, influencing operational efficiency, shaping strategy and delivering financial insights that drive organisational change. You'll help steer financial strategy through an exciting time of growth and maturity, driven by the implementation of critical AML/CTF legislatives reforms. What are we looking for

While we are looking for these attributes, we consider transferrable skills and encourage applicants who embody AUSTRAC's culture and values to apply.

  • Strong financial modelling and analysis expertise.
  • Experience in management accounting and financial planning.
  • Relevant tertiary education or professional certification.
  • Demonstrated experience working on project costing is desirable.
  • Proficiency in financial systems and data analysis tools include Excel, TechOne or similar, is desirable.

Key Duties

  • Partner with business areas to support effective financial management and decision-making.
  • Produce high-quality financial performance reports.
  • Analyse business data to generate insights that drive resource allocation and financial performance improvement.
  • Ensure financial data integrity by assessing business impacts and resolving inaccuracies.
  • Drive process improvements that enhance financial reporting accuracy and clarity.
  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders to understand and support their priorities.
  • Lead, manage and develop team members to deliver on business outcomes.

Affirmative Measures

This vacancy is being advertised concurrently under a general round, an affirmative measures disability round and an affirmative measures indigenous round.

We offer competitive remuneration and great conditions, including:

  • Annual leave of 4 weeks (20 days) per year + additional paid Christmas close down.
  • Cultural, Ceremonial and NAIDOC leave.
  • 18 days of paid personal leave per year.
  • 15.4% superannuation, which continues through paid maternity leave.
  • 18 weeks of paid maternity leave.
  • Competitive APS salaries with access to annual salary progression.
  • Study assistance - up to $6,000 per annum and up to 120 hours of study leave.
