Currently, there are around 4.3 million Australians with a disability. The National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) implements the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), which is one of the biggest social reforms in the country since Medicare. As an Agency, we support more than 600,000 participants with a significant and permanent disability, and the families and carers of those living with disability. For many Australians, this will be the first time they receive the disability support they need. The NDIA is designed to enhance the quality of life and increase economic and social participation for people with disability and will mean a peace of mind for every Australian.

A new role awaits

The EL1 Finance Business Partner (Professional Stream) is accountable under broad direction to undertake complex work that delivers quality outcomes across the Finance functions of the NDIA.

The position is an important team leadership position within the NDIA and will have delegated authority and responsibility to resolve issues and risks across wideranging activities of substantial depth involving significant detail. The role requires providing leadership, control, planning, resource management, performance management and decision making for the Team Membership and assigned Contractors working within the Work Area.

The EL1 Finance Business Partner will exercise a considerable degree of independence to engage in complex problem solving and issues management within the financial functions.

The position requires exercising sound decision-making and judgement to produce high level policy advice and operational support. The position is required to coordinate and assume responsibility to undertake detailed or sensitive projects that may include performing varied activities involving many different and unrelated processes or methods that may impact on the strategic or operational outcomes that support the NDIA’s objectives to “build a world-leading National Disability Insurance Scheme”.

  • Deliver end of month outputs for the assigned Groups, ensuring quality outcome and timeliness.

  • Lead implementation of financial decisions and budget process.
  • Lead financial policy and procedure development and updates.
  • Initiate and implement innovation and improvements of existing business practice to achieve efficiency
  • Lead assigned projects and collaborating with wider Branch/Division/Group to achieve outcomes.
  • Provide leadership and mentoring and supporting your direct team.
Enough about us, let’s talk about you

Our ideal candidate will have a demonstrated understanding of the government financial environment, experience in developing reports & dashboards for presenting to Senior Management. You will possess highly developed stakeholder engagement and project management skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are also essential, as you will be working closely with senior leaders and other stakeholders. You will have a demonstrated ability to engage in complex problem solving and issues management.

Prior experience leading teams, as well as strong time management skills. Experience working with various systems such as SAS Enterprise Guide, SAP Financial systems and Microsoft suite will hold you in good stead.

You will need to hold CA/CPA qualifications and be able to provide these at the application stage.

While this role is ideally performed from Geelong - Vic or Richmond - VIC, remote working arrangements may be considered. We intend to fill this role in an ongoing capacity, however non-ongoing roles up to 12 months with the possibility of extension up to 2 years may be offered.

Successful candidates will be required to undergo a pre-employment National Police History check, Worker Screening check and/or Working with Children Check (where required) and provide evidence of Australian Citizenship.
