The Fitness and Wellness Coordinator will design and manage the Brighton Recreational Centre’s fitness and wellness classes, including the determination of and scheduling of classes, and will be responsible for the continual review of the range of classes relating to both quality and demand. The Fitness and Wellness Coordinator will identify opportunities to maximise occupancy and retention of customers and growth of the fitness and wellness business.
Since the centres opening, it has become increasingly evident that our classes are of appeal to older adults, and as such our class timetable and program offerings have continued to evolve in catering for this market.
The Fitness and Wellness Coordinator will be responsible for the recruitment of instructors, and then to provide leadership and direction to a passionate, professional and highly engaged fitness team.
You will be passionate about fitness and wellness and will be up to date with fitness industry trends and training techniques.
It is envisaged that the performance of the role will require a time allocation of 6 to 8 hours per week (the days and hours to be negotiated based on the applicants availability) . The Coordinator, in addition to managing the program, may also choose to conduct classes, for which the Coordinator will be paid at the appropriate instructor rate of $70 per class.
We currently offer 19 classes per week.
The centre has a dedicated group fitness room (100m2), plus 2 additional multi purpose rooms
RESPONSIBILITIES
Programming
• Research and remain up to date with industry trends in fitness and wellness
• With consideration to industry trends, customer demand and the competitive environment develop a fitness and wellness program
• Regularly review and revise the program timetable
• Manage and monitor class attendances and respond to low and high numbers as necessary
• Develop participant guidelines for the attendance to classes, including class sizes, attire, equipment needs
• Determine equipment requirements for all classes
• Develop and deliver additional health, fitness and wellness initiatives which positively contribute to the customer experience and the broader health and wellness of the Brighton community. For example, mens health week initiatives, exercise in the park, fitness testing, neighbourhood walk etc..
• Obtain customer feedback through the most appropriate means and respond as necessary
• Report on and analyse program attendances and trends
• Conduct fitness assessments
Personnel Management
• Recruit instructors for the delivery of all classes
• Develop and deliver a specific fitness and wellness induction program (to compliment the broader staff induction)
• Roster instructors to deliver classes
• Ensure that all staff comply with all centre policies including the code of conduct and child protection policy
• Conduct staff evaluations on a regular basis
• Development of and implementation of a process for covering of classes in the event of an instructors inability to conduct a class
• Facilitate group training/meetings for the instructors as a collective, as required
• Ensure instructors are aware of the incident/accident reporting procedure, and that they complete such reporting as necessary
General
• Undertake fitness and wellness equipment inventories as necessary, and purchase, repair and maintain as required
• Provide input and guidance to the Marketing/ Program Manager on all fitness and wellness marketing and communications activities.
• Provide guidance and input to the reception/administration department regarding memberships, class bookings and entry into classes
• Manage safe and efficient health and fitness programs within legislative guidelines
• Comply with the Brighton Recreational procedures for safety, training, document control, corrective and preventative action and customer complaints
• Ensure that all hygiene issues are dealt with as required
• Performs other duties as required
