Our client's core business is the empty container industry.

Currently they are seeking Empty container forklift operators to join their business on an ongoing basis.

Position Purpose:

To operate a forklift /Container Handler in accordance with driver training and certification for the purpose of moving containers as required.

Principal Accountabilities:

• To ensure safe operation of the forklift.
• Follow all safety policies and procedures.
• Keep forklift in a clean and tidy condition.
• To ensure containers are stacked correctly, safely and in correct location.
• To ensure efficient depot productively through effective use of the forklift.
• To ensure that appropriate start up checks are conducted at the beginning of each new shift. Includes all checks of tyres, fluids and operating elements. Report all problems and/or safety concerns to the Operations Manager or Depot Manager.
• Responsible for ensuring implementation of, and compliance with, all relevant depot policies and procedures, in particular those relating to OH&S.

Typical Duties (but not limited to):

• To load and unload trucks in a safe and efficient manner.
• To communicate with container control, workshop and surveyors as required.
• Liaise with the Operations Manager / Senior Controller to ensure workshop, wash bay, survey pad and pre-trip are changed immediately once completed.
• Locate and make accessible; off-hires, sale, long-stay or any other boxes required by the customer.
• Assist in performing a full stock take of the container park each year.
• Complete Pre-operational forklift check procedures at the start of each shift.
• Ensure security of Forklifts / at all times and close doors /gates at closing time.
• Other Duties as may be required from time to time by Operations Manager / Senior Controller.

• Willingness to learn

Experience:

Experience in container park operations is preferred as is experience in handling shipping containers.

Training/qualifications (or equivalent experience):

All forklift operators must hold a current and valid High Risk Forklift licence.

Work references for the last 2 years work history will be required at interview stage.

Successful candidates will be required to complete an interview at the clients site PRIOR to commencement.
