Our client, CFS Building & Construction Pty Limited ACN 080 809 525 (CFS) has been in business for more than 30 years and has built a strong reputation of proviing bespoke, highly skilled and experienced solutions for commercial marine based construction projects.
CFS is seeking a qualified and experienced Carpenter to work on waterfront and marine construction projects including the construction and installation of walls, jetties, piers, decking, poles, pylons, marine structures, and formwork. A successful candidate must have 4+ years of hands on experience in carpentry and joinery in the maritime construction industry woking close to or on structures suspended above deep water areas in inland waterways.
Key duties include:
Construct, install, renovate, and repair marine structures and fixtures made from wood and timber materials.
Perform specialized formwork and framework for marine and waterfront construction.
Read and interpret plans, drawings, and specifications.
Operate hand and power tools efficiently and safely.
Execute custom joinery work as needed.
Maintain compliance with safety standards and marine environmental regulations.
Operate and work from marine vessels up to 24 metres to access marine construction sites.
Experience and qualifications
Applicants must have the following minimum qualifications and exeprience:
Formal carpentry qualifications and/or equivalent work experience as a Carpenter - TRA accredited ANZSCO 331212 (or equivalent);
AMSA Masters <24 metres Licence, or Certificate III (in Maritime Operations up to 24 metres) or other approved equivalent qualification;
AMSA MED Grade 2 or equivalent qualification; and
First Aid Certification.
Candidate selection criteria:
Candidates must demionstrate the following:
Highly skilled in constructing, installing, and repairing marine structures including jetties, piers, seawalls, decking, poles, pylons, and wharf;
Experienced in reading and interpreting technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications for marine and waterfront projects;
Extensive experience working in marine construction environments, ensuring adherence to maritime safety standards and environmental regulations;
Able to work collaboratively and proactively in a small team and take the initiative in finding solutions to problems as they arise during the construction process;
Excellent communication skills;
Demonstrate experience in operation of marine vessels used in loading, transportation and offloading of heavy bulky construction materials and construction workers in the marine environment. Such experience must include large construction barges and the like in a safe and productive manner; and
Demonstrate a strong commitment to workplace health and safety practices, especially in high-risk marine environments.
