The Role
The Aboriginal Hub Practitioner will be responsible for providing culturally safe and responsive intake, assessment and support to Community Member’s at risk of or experiencing family violence in the Barwon Region. The Practitioner will provide advice to the Hub workforce on culturally safe and inclusive specialist family violence services, child and family services and adult’s using family violence (AUFV) interventions. In addition, the Practitioner will work to build and maintain effective partnerships with Aboriginal specific services and Community within the Hub Network to support and elevate choice for Aboriginal people.
The Aboriginal Hub Practitioner will work from both The Orange Door site and Wathaurong Home Agency Sites - to be determined by the Wathaurong Family Violence Manager and Wathaurong Family Services Executive Manager in accordance with Funding expectations, Community and Aboriginal Response Team needs.
The Aboriginal Hub Practitioner will be part of the wider Wathaurong Family Services Team with Home Agency responsibilities and delegations.
About you
Bachelor of Social Work or equivalent qualification, and /or experience in line with the mandatory minimum qualification requirements for specialist family violence practitioners
Knowledge of safe and appropriate culturally centred practices for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander focused services, including employment of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people
Demonstrated understanding of social, physical, economical, and cultural strengths and challenges affecting Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander communities and their ability to access adequate and quality services
Demonstrated experience working within the family violence and child, youth and family sector.
An understanding of the MARAM (Multi-Agency Risk Assessment and Management) framework, the Family Violence Act (2008) and the Child Youth and Family Act (2005)
Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to develop positive stakeholder relationships and communicate with diverse individuals at all levels, both internally and externally
Ability to demonstrate resilience and meet targets and objectives within a fast-paced, pressured environment
Strong written and verbal communication skills including writing reports
Understanding of the purpose and expectations of the Victorian Child Safe Standards and demonstrated commitment to contributing to a child safe organisation in both practice and culture
Desirable
Identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander
Demonstrated experience working with Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations
