Gowrie is seeking a cook for our early childhood education and care centre located in Karawara, within the City of South Perth. The successful applicant will be responsible for preparing and cooking nutritious snacks and meals for young children. If you love to cook for your family and friends, this role could be perfect for you.
The responsibilities of the cook role include, but are not limited to: ordering groceries; cooking and planning snacks and meals for all children including those with allergies and other dietary requirements; reviewing menus in consultation with the team from time to time; and maintaining a food safety program and records (that we can teach you all about it you aren't familiar with this).

Gowrie is the oldest provider of high-quality early childhood education and care in Western Australia. We were established in 1940 by the then Governor’s wife, Lady Zara Gowrie. The successful candidate for this exciting role will:
Have experience in a home or commercial kitchen
Understand food safety standards and our food safety plan or be willing to learn
Have a willingness to be the Food Safety Supervisor
Understand nutritional requirements for young children or a willingness to learn them
Understand and appreciate dietary and cultural requirements
Undertake record keeping
Conduct menu planning (with assistance, and in consultation with others, from time to time)
Conduct food preparation
Maintain a clean, safe and hygienic work area
Enjoy cooking and presenting food

It is essential that the successful applicant has good written and verbal skills, is passionate about providing healthy snacks and meals for young children, has a friendly approach and positive attitude towards children, and has experience in a home or commercial kitchen. It is important our new cook can work autonomously, and also within a team environment with our amazing people, is pro-active and uses initiative, and understands the importance of good team culture.
