About the Role

Reporting to the Manager: Wirringka Student Services, you will coordinate programs and activities to support the access, participation, retention, and success of Aboriginal students at the University of South Australia. You will lead engagement, reporting, and promotion services while building strong community connections. In this role, you will support students, manage on-campus Study Centres, and maintain a Wirringka Student Services presence across academic divisions to enhance student outcomes.

About the Student Engagement Unit/Wirringka Student Services

The Student Engagement Unit (SEU) is responsible for the strategic development and delivery of student facing services that will enhance the on-campus and off-campus student experience to ensure all students, regardless of background and location, have an optimal university experience.

Wirringka Student Services provides information, advice and assistance to potential and current Aboriginal students. The team provides support to Aboriginal students, administers the Aboriginal Tutorial Program (ATP) at the University, and facilitates a number of events on campus and in the community. The University of South Australia is committed to and values Aboriginal education, and Wirringka Student Services is a key part of this work.

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Australian Aboriginal ancestry with understanding of issues impacting Aboriginal tertiary students and communities
  • Relevant qualifications or equivalent experience with a commitment to ongoing development
  • Experience in delivering programs that engage Aboriginal communities and support students
  • Strong communication, networking and community engagement skills
  • Solid organisational, project management, research and digital literacy skills
