Transport Operations Manager – Nighthawk Transport (Darwin, NT)

Salary:$ 140,000-150,000 (depending on experience) + work vehicle

Marlu Transport Solutions Trading As Nighthawk Transport is a proud Northern Territory-based logistics company delivering reliable freight and transport solutions across remote and regional Australia. We are currently seeking a Transport Operations Manager to lead our Darwin operations and help drive our next phase of growth.

About the Role:
As Transport Operations Manager, you will be responsible for the day-to-day leadership of our Darwin fleet and team. This role requires a trustworthy individual with strong operational expertise, a deep understanding of the transport industry, and a practical working knowledge of the Northern Territory’s road network and conditions.

Key Responsibilities:

Oversee scheduling, routing, and dispatch of heavy vehicles across the NT and beyond

Ensure compliance with NHVR regulations, fatigue management, and safety procedures

Manage and support drivers and depot staff to deliver excellent customer service

Maintain fleet servicing schedules and liaise with maintenance teams

Monitor and improve operational efficiency, costs, and delivery timeframes

Build strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and key stakeholders

Report on KPIs, incidents, and operational updates to senior management

What We’re Looking For:

• Proven experience in transport operations management (minimum 5 years preferred)

• Strong knowledge of heavy vehicle compliance, chain of responsibility, and fatigue laws

• Familiarity with remote and regional freight routes across the Northern Territory

• Solid understanding of logistical challenges unique to Top End conditions

• Leadership experience with the ability to motivate and coordinate teams

• High-level organisational and problem-solving skills

• Excellent communication, interpersonal abilities and positive attitude

• MC and forklift license required

• Ability to pass a pre-employment medical including drug and alcohol screening
