The Department of Justice and Community Safety is seeking a Director, Recruitment Services to provide a critical role within People, Safety, Culture and Communications.

About the Business Unit

The People, Safety, Culture and Communications (PSCC) group supports the department in workplace culture and people matters, including strategic communications, human resource policy and strategy; organisational culture and change; recruitment and retention; performance and development; pay, benefits and workforce reporting; safety and wellbeing; workplace relations; and employee conduct. PSCC promotes a culture to engage and develop the workforce, providing every person with the opportunity to unlock and achieve their potential.

The Recruitment Services and Talent Programs team provides expert advice and support to the department on all recruitment related matters, including attraction, selection, redeployment and other recruitment and retention practices. Recruitment Services delivers consultative, progressive, innovative, fair and ethical recruitment solutions.

About the Role

The Director, Recruitment Services leads the Recruitment Services function supported by a team of recruitment professionals and as working on the delivery of recruitment strategies that align to Government priorities. The role is responsible for the strategic and operational delivery of recruitment delivery services across the department. The role will proactively work with the departments frontline areas in managing external providers to ensure best value for money is achieved, the best possible talent is being attracted, and that appointments are successful and lead to a fulfilled career.

The role forms part of the People Services leadership team and works strategically with other areas within PSCC and its stakeholders to understand their business and what is required for current and future success. It is expected that this role holds current and detailed knowledge of the labour market, the economy and political landscape for the department and demonstrate a breadth of Human Resource capability.

As the Director, Recruitment Services, some of your duties will include:

  • Leading and motivating the Recruitment Services Team to deliver innovative, accurate and timely recruitment, redeployment and best practice training services in a high output environment.
  • Leading the recruitment strategy work in the delivery of recruitment outcomes that align to Government priorities.
  • Analysing, negotiating and managing complex improvement initiatives and change management processes relating to recruitment, particularly in relation to alternative assessment methodologies for leadership, values, attitudes, and behaviour attributes.

About you

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of best practice recruitment principles in a government setting working at a senior level.
  • Extensive experience, with extensive skills and knowledge across a range of marketing and communication functions, preferably within the public sector.

Qualifications

  • An appropriate tertiary qualification in Learning and Capability or related field is highly desirable.
