St George Sailing Club is seeking for a highly motivated Sous Chef to join the crew, servicing our high-volume casual dining space.

About St George Sailing Club

St George Sailing Club is situated in Sans Souci which boasts our waterfront restaurant, offers two bars, a relaxed bistro with a seafood focus, a multi-purpose function room that can accommodate up to 250 people and not to mention our sun-kissed decks that is the place to be to unwind, relax and enjoy some mouth-watering food and delicious cocktails.

About the role

We are looking for an experienced and dynamic Sous Chef to support our venue Head Chef to lead the kitchen team. You will be responsible for overseeing the kitchen operations, support rostering, menu collaboration, and ensuring our dishes reflect the quality and value that St George Sailing Club stands for. Beyond the kitchen your leadership qualities will foster a work environment that allows creativity to thrive, and allow the team to work harmoniously. As a Sous Chef, you will be instrumental in nurturing that environment, fostering a culture of respect, collaboration, and growth within your team.

About you

You will lead by example, and when challenges arise, you will communicate effectively with your team to resolve issues promptly. Your open and honest communication style, combined with your respect and care for both your team and the club, will empower you to guide your team toward achieving shared goals with our friendly front of house team.

Key Responsibilities

Lead, inspire, and manage the kitchen team, ensuring high standards of quality, presentation, and consistency.

Take charge of all kitchen operation in the absence of Head Chef

Maintain a clean, organised, and safe kitchen, ensuring all health and safety regulations are followed.

Foster a positive, collaborative atmosphere where every team member feels valued and supported.

Train and mentor junior staff, providing them with opportunities for personal and professional growth.

Ensure the kitchen is adequately stocked, managing inventory and ordering supplies as necessary.

Collaborate with Front of House staff to create a seamless dining experience for our guests.

The ideal candidate will:

Be experienced in a similar high volume casual dining venues, preferably upmarket pubs, hotels or restaurants

Have a keen eye for detail

Be free to use their creativity and be looking to stay at the forefront of trends and innovation

Can remain calm in a high-pressure environment

Have had experience in using Cooking the Books or similar kitchen management systems

Have an exceptional record of accomplishment of financial performance

More than anything else have a passion for great food and great hospitality
